The Car Collection Of The Saudi Royal Family
It's well known that the royal family of Saudi Arabia is rich. Very, very rich. With enough power and money to make Solomon blush, it's no wonder they love to spend lavishly, including on some very high-priced cars. From supercars to SUVs, members of the Saudi royal family spare no expense for their cars. Let's explore the extraordinary automobiles of one of the world's richest families.
The Cars Of Crown Prince Mohammed Bin Salman
The heir to the throne of Saudi Arabia and the son of King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud is certainly no stranger to throwing his proverbial money around. From the world's most expensive painting, valued at $450 million, to a fleet of luxury vehicles, the Crown Prince loves to travel in style.

Bugatti Veyron Grand Sport
What does one do when one has money? One buys a Bugatti Veyron, of course. But the Prince's Bugatti isn't just any Veyron—it's the 1,183 hp Bugatti Veyron Grand Sport, one of the world's fastest street-legal cars ever produced. Its electronically limited top speed of 233 mph puts the Veyron into the supercar category. It cost Mohammed Bin Salman $12.5 million—a pittance of his estimated $2 trillion overall wealth.

12 Bugatti Veyron Grand Sport supercars were seized by German police in April 2024, following a money laundering and embezzlement investigation concerning the Sovereign Wealth Fund of Malaysia, in which Malaysian Prime Minister, Najib Razak was sentenced to 12 years in prison for embezzling money from that country's Sovereign Wealth Fund. Interestingly, Prince Turki Bin Abdullah gave a monetary gift to Razak while he was still in office.

Lamborghini Aventador
Like footballer Cristiano Ronaldo, the Crown Prince has expensive tastes in Lamborghinis. The Lamborghini Aventador SuperVeloce is capable of producing 750 hp and a top speed of 217 mph. If the Crown Prince doesn't feel like taking the Bugatti but needs to get somewhere quickly, the Lamborghini Aventador may be his next choice.

The Lamborghini Aventador Huber was a one-of-a-kind Aventador produced by Lamborghini for a customer in Dubai. It included new bumpers, different fascia, and a tune-up that cut the 0 to 60 time to just 2.9 seconds. Unfortunately for owner Ciro Ciampi, his custom-made Aventador was destroyed in a fire.

Rolls Royce Phantom Drophead Coupé
Whenever the Prince needs to travel in style or penultimate luxury, his Rolls Royce Phantom Drophead Coupé is at his disposal. Owned by world elites and David Beckham, MBS fits right in. The Rolls Royce Phantom Drophead Coupé costs between $200,000 and $400,000, but the golden wrap for the car may have cost a few extra thousand. A drop in the bucket for the Crown Prince.

In 2007, the first ever Rolls Royce Phantom Drophead Coupé sold in the United States went for $2 million at a charity auction event to launch the new coupé from Rolls Royce. For a time, it was the most expensive new car ever sold in the US.

Bentley Flying Spur
The Bentley Flying Spur may be one of the rarest cars out there, having been built in severely limited editions since 2005. One of them belongs to Crown Prince Mohammed Bin Salman, and it (like every other car he owns), is plated with gold.
Bentley Flying Spur (Cont'd)
While most customers of Bentley are overwhelmingly satisfied with their Flying Spur, some Bentley customers launched a class-action lawsuit against the company in 2014 after the factory refused to recognize several common issues that customers were experiencing, and charging them for repairs, sometimes into the thousands of dollars.

Rolls Royce Phantom Coupé
Similar to its Drophead cousin, the Rolls Royce Phantom Coupé is different in a few key ways: it has better gas mileage (although, when you're the Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia, that's less of a concern), and is a sedan rather than a convertible. The Drophead Coupé may have been intended to replace the Phantom, in case MBS needed a "top down" day.

Sam Li is the owner of a one-off version of a Rolls Royce Phantom Coupé, the Rolls Royce Sweptail. Customized by Rolls Royce in 2017, the car cost $12.8 million, the most expensive new car in the world at the time. It took four years to build and was overtaken as the world's most expensive car by the Bugatti La Voiture Noire in 2019, which sold for $18.7 million.

Range Rover SV
A 2020 Range Rover SV is MBS' SUV of choice. Of course, all plated in gold, the Range Rover SV provides a slightly more practical vehicle for Mohammed Bin Salman. It's used when the Crown Prince is traveling over rough terrain, or wants to rip around in the Empty Quarter desert.

The Range Rover SV was so successful that Range Rover decided to produce a Range Rover SV Coupé version in the late 2010s. This would be two-door and feature a 5L supercharged V8 engine, and with a limited number of just 999 being produced, it was slated to be the most expensive and exclusive Range Rover ever. However, Range Rover shifted gears and cancelled the project, focusing on electric vehicle models instead of an ultra-rare, ultra-expensive SUV.

Mercedes Benz G-63 6x6
The Mercedes Benz G-63 6x6 is a huge off-road vehicle, with six wheels and all-wheel drive. It was produced from 2013 to 201. With a 5.5L V8 engine producing 536 hp and a luxury leather interior, the Mercedes Benz G-63 is a gas-guzzling, fun-creating SUV.

Although demand for the Mercedes Benz G-63 6x6 was reasonably high among those who could afford them, Mercedes stopped producing the G-63 in 2015 to maintain their exclusivity. With just 100 of these ever produced, the G-63 would have cost you $615,000 back in 2015.

Prince Badr Bin Abdullah Al Saud's Car Collection
The cousin of Mohammed Bin Salman, Prince Badr bin Abdullah Al Saud also has a thing for very fast cars. As the Saudi Arabian Minister of Culture, Badr bin Abdullah Al Saud is in charge of Saudi Arabia's progressive vision for the country, known as Saudi Vision 2030. He directly oversees this project and has spent much of his life in the bureaucracy of the Saudi Government. Let's examine the cars of Prince Badr.

Aston Martin Lagonda Taraf
One of the rarest cars in the fleet of the Saudi Royal Family is the Aston Martin Lagonda Taraf, made by Aston Martin of England. The Taraf was released for the Middle Eastern market only and is a remake of a 1974 four-door luxury saloon, the Aston Martin Lagonda. Just 120 cars were produced by Aston Martin and the model sold between 2015 and 2016. Making Prince Badr's car ultra-rare.

Despite the popularity of the Lagonda Taraf in the Middle Eastern market, its predecessor, the Lagonda, was excoriated in the UK and Europe for being ugly. The wedge-like shape of the Lagonda was something new for Aston Martin—it wasn't exactly a hit among those who expected better from the classic British car giant. Bloomberg Businessweek named the Lagonda one of the 50 ugliest cars of the last 50 years. Ouch.

Bugatti Chiron
Produced between 2016 and 2024, the Bugatti Chiron is a successor to the Bugatti Veyron, and is named after Louis Chiron, a Monaco-born racing driver. This mid-engine all-wheel drive car is a two-door coupé capable of producing 1,479 hp. Just 500 of the Chiron were produced over those eight years and one of them belongs to Prince Badr.

Bentley Bentayga

The Bentley Bentayga struggled to gain popularity among Bentley diehards who felt that Bentley were straying off-course with their SUV design. In 2024, Bentley's Bentayga model experienced an 11% drop in sales, which CEO Adrian Hallmark blamed on buyers' "emotional sensitivities". Ouch.

Ford GT
The Ford GT second generation was released in 2017 and marked 50 years since the Ford GT of 1966 had won the 24 Hours of Le Mans race, for which the original car was built. Prince Badr snapped up this butterfly-doored 3.5L twin-turbocharged supercar for when his Bugatti Chiron was in for repair, or something. It has a top speed of 216 mph and can go from 0 to 60 in just 3 seconds.

Ford GT (Cont'd)
The second-generation Ford GT of the mid-2010s attempted to fix some of the problems that Ford had encountered with the early 2000s models. Specifically, in 2005, Ford recalled 283 Ford GTs for an issue with the suspension control arm that could cause it to fracture, leading to spontaneous loss of control and the possibility of a crash.

Mercedes G Brabus
When he can't borrow his cousin's Mercedes Benz G-63 6x6, Prince Badr has his own Mercedes G-Wagon: the Brabus. The Mercedes Benz G Brabus model, unlike the G63 6x6, is a four-wheeled vehicle with a roof and no rear cab. More SUV, less truck. And the Prince loves it.

Koenigsegg Regera
The Koenigsegg Regera is a very special car produced by Swedish supercar manufacturer Koenigsegg. It's unique because it's a plug-in hybrid supercar. Made to be more practical than some of Koenigseggg's other offerings, its design is focused on delivering ease of use and luxury, rather than raw power and speed. The Regera broke the acceleration record for a car from 0 to 249 mph in 2023, setting a new world record of just 28.81 seconds.

In Swedish, "Regera" means "to rule" or "to reign", but as Prince Badr isn't exactly close to the line of succession, he might have bought it because of its plug-in hybrid capacity. The world is definitely going more electric these days and maybe the Prince wishes to be ahead of his time.

Porsche 918 Silver
A Porsche 918 in silver is another among the Prince's extraordinary roster of supercars and is yet another plug-in hybrid. Featuring a 4.8L naturally-aspirated V8 engine, the two-door roadster was produced between 2013 and 2015 with a starting price of $845,000. Pocket change for one of the richest of the Saudi Royal Family.

The Porsche 918 is named so because there were only 918 cars ever produced. It's thought that Prince Badr received number 14 of 918 of this near million-dollar sports car.

Pagani Huayra Roadster
This car cost the Prince over $3 million. Starting at an MSRP of $3.4 million, the Huayra Roadster is the road-legal version of the Huayra Roadster BC, a track-oriented supercar made by Italian sports car extraordinaire Pagani. The V12 engine will scream from 0 to 60 in 3.3 seconds, and produces 791 horsepower. An extraordinary car, fit for a prince, as it were.

Pagani Huayra Roadster (Cont'd)
Despite the incredible engineering that Pagani put into the Huayra Roadster, the car will never be driven in the United States. I guess Prince Badr will need to keep it at home in the Kingdom or for use in Europe. Why not America? It doesn't meet the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration's safety guidelines. The transgression? Not having a mandatory passenger airbag toggle switch.

Rolls Royce Wraith
The Rolls Royce Wraith is a luxury vehicle produced by Rolls-Royce that bears the same nameplate as their 1938 model. This two-door pillar-less coupé is made with doors that open toward the rear of the vehicle. The Wraith was produced from 2014-2023, but a special edition was made in 2013 with a gold trim, hood, roof, and trunk. It also had a gold palm tree stitched into the headrest.

During the press conference where the Wraith was unveiled, the car on display contained a placard that said, "Inspired by music". They elaborated to explain that this particular Rolls Royce had been inspired by the likes of Elvis Presley (who owned a 1960s Phantom V) and Keith Moon (who accidentally ran over his own driver in 1970 in his Rolls Royce). They also mentioned that it took two years to put together the audio system that contained 18 speakers and pounded out 1,300 watts.

Lamborghini Veneno
Created to celebrate Lamborghini's 50th anniversary, the Veneno features a 6.5L V12 engine with a top speed of 221 mph. Partially due to its 100% carbon fiber body, it can travel from 0 to 60 in just 2.8 seconds. Prince Badr likely picked up this gem because Lamborghini produced just four of them. The Veneno also cost $4,000,000. So, yes, only a Prince of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia could afford one.

Although Prince Badr may have loved his Lamborghini Veneno, most other people at the Geneva Motor Show (where Lamborghini unveiled the car) thought it was the ugliest thing they'd ever seen. That might be why Lamborghini produced just four of them.

LaFerrari Aperta
Another million-dollar car in Prince Badr's collection was the LaFerrari Aperta, a 2016 Ferrari model that was only sold until 2018. The Prince got his hands on one of only 200 ever made, for a cool $2.2 million. Whether he still owns the Aperta is unknown, but it was painted white (along with most of his other cars).

American racing legend Preston Henn once applied to receive a LaFerrari Aperta (because Ferrari doesn't just let anyone buy their cars, especially special editions like this one), but his request was denied by Ferrari. He sent a $1 million check and a personal letter to the head of the company's marque in the US, Sergio Marchionne. It was returned swiftly by Marchionne, and Henn sued for $75,000 in damages to his reputation via Ferrari's personal slight. He was told by his lawyer that his chances of winning the suit were "zero".

The Bugatti Chiron & A Fake News Story
The Bugatti Chiron certainly turned many heads during its production run from 2016 to 2024. But none moreso than when it was involved in a fake news story generated by a Russian website, targeting Ukranian first lady, Olena Zelenska. The story went like this: The Ukranian first lady visited Paris for D-Day celebrations in June, 2024. During this time, she purchased a Bugatti Chiron Tourbillion car for $4.8 million.
According to the false report, the first lady of Ukraine had spent aid money appropriated by the US military to buy the car. Of course, the story was fake and even Bugatti put out a statement denying any such purchase was made by Olena Zelenska. But not before the news spread on Twitter to over 20 million accounts and with countless other shares and retweets.
